Beyond gaming, what are your hobbies and passions outside of work?
My main hobby is landscape photography. I try to travel a lot and I enjoy bringing back memories that can be refreshed after a longer time through photos. The rest of my hobbies depend on what kind of recharge I need. If it is to remove stress or to shut off the brain, then it is hiking or gym. To calm down or enjoy a slow day I choose a book or play games.
Achieving success in the gaming industry can be challenging. Can you share some of the key milestones or moments in your career that have contributed to your success as a CEO?
I would say that the key milestone was setting up the game company - Cauldron in 1995 and to start developing games. The rest is mostly a rough road with its highs and lows. So there are no further specific milestones. The most important was to learn from mistakes you or others make, adapt, and not give up during tough times. Therefore most important for my career was getting experience over time through different projects. Each one taught me something new.
Are you an avid gamer yourself, or do you have a particular passion for the gaming industry? How does your personal interest in gaming influence your role as the CEO of NRG?
Yes, I play games a lot and it was also why I started to develop games - I wanted to create games that I would love to play. It was definitely not the best business model, but it was what made me start developing games. I usually play between 50 – 100 games a year. Many just very shortly to find out what the game is about, and some I play from start to end. It is part of my job, to find inspiration and progress in technology, but of course, the bigger part of it is that I enjoy it.
Additionally, what are some of your favorite games to play, and are there any specific titles you keep coming back to for enjoyment or inspiration?
There are too many great games, but to mention a few from the last year I played – Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man Remastered, and A Plague Tale Requiem. I do not have a game I am returning back to as there are too many great new titles to enjoy.
Can you share a memorable travel experience that has influenced your perspective on life or work?
It is not a single travel experience; it is travel itself that changes my perspective. Meeting different people, experiencing various cultures and habits, trying local food, or hiking in diverse nature is what enriches one’s life.
Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for NRG in the coming year? What exciting plans can we expect to see from the company?
We love Way of the Hunter and closely watch what players are discussing on forums, therefore I am pretty sure that there are lots of great things coming to the game in the near future and there will be very exciting news coming next year.
