The Road to 1.0 for Way of the Hunter 2

From new maps to multiplayer and gear — here’s what’s coming to Way of the Hunter 2 during Early Access.

We’re excited to finally share something the community has been asking about for a long time - our official roadmap for Way of the Hunter 2. This roadmap is not just a list of features; it reflects our long-term vision for the game and our commitment to building it together with you.

As development continues, you can expect a mix of new features, gameplay systems, gear, locations, and animals. At the same time, we’ll continue refining the experience through fixes, balancing, and improvements based directly on your feedback. Our goal is to make sure that every update, big or small, moves the game forward in a meaningful way.

We are committed to delivering major content updates on a regular basis, each bringing substantial additions to the game. Between those, smaller updates will help smooth out the experience as well as introduce new gear and equipment options. Patches and hotfixes will be released whenever needed to maintain stability and quality.

First Major Update – Coming This April

The first update, arriving this April, focuses both on improving the current experience and introducing highly requested features from the community.

One of the most anticipated additions is thermal night vision. This has been a highly requested feature with discussions going back to the first game, and it will open up entirely new ways to approach nighttime hunting. At launch, players will be able to use a thermal clip-on along with a monocular, giving more flexibility and precision when tracking animals in the dark.

We are also introducing infrastructure improvements to New Laurentia. While exploring, many of you have noticed broken bridges, tunnels, and other damaged areas. With this update, you will be able to repair these locations and cultivate the land. These changes are not just cosmetic or about easier navigation — some improvements will directly affect gameplay, opening new opportunities, and improving animal populations.

Another major addition is suppressors, which will allow players to approach hunting in a more tactical and stealth-oriented way. This has been one of the most requested gear additions, and it will significantly change how you handle certain situations in the field.

Photo mode is also receiving an upgrade. We know how much the community enjoys capturing their hunting moments, so we are expanding dog pose variations to give you more creative freedom when documenting your experiences.

Second Major Update – A New Destination

The second update will take you somewhere entirely new. It will introduce a new full-sized map along with a variety of new animal species to hunt. For now, we want to keep the details a surprise, but we’re excited to reveal more soon.

Looking Further Ahead

Beyond these updates, we already have a wide range of features in development. These additions are at different stages, and while they don’t yet have specific release windows, your feedback will play a key role in shaping their priority.

We are exploring more flexible gameplay systems, such as the ability to change ammunition and manage loadouts more efficiently. We are also working on expanding dog training mechanics to give players deeper control and more meaningful interactions with their companions.

Environmental immersion remains a big focus as well. Expanded weather variation and environmental possibilities that directly affect gameplay are being developed to make each hunt feel more dynamic and unpredictable. At the same time, we are continuing to evolve the trophy system, introducing more variation, including non-typical trophies, and refining how trophies are generated throughout the entire Early Access phase.

Animal behavior is another area that will see continuous improvement. We will keep adjusting and refining animal AI based on your feedback to ensure that wildlife feels as authentic and responsive as possible.

There are a lot of quality-of-life improvements and smaller additions in the works, that we would like to keep a surprise for now.

Multiplayer – Built Step by Step

We are deeply committed to delivering the best multiplayer experience we can, and that means taking the time to build it properly.

We will begin with a simple cooperative multiplayer mode released as an open beta, available to all current players. This initial phase will allow us to gather feedback, test systems, and refine the core experience. From there, we will expand multiplayer with new modes and features.

One of the most requested features, a persistent world, is already part of our plans. This will allow you and your friends to build and manage your own hunting reserve across multiple sessions, with all progress saved over time. Later, we also plan to expand multiplayer with additional systems and features, adding even more depth to the shared experience.

Licensed Gear and Authentic Equipment

During Early Access, you can also expect new gear and equipment from our licensed partners. We are happy to inform you that many brands have renewed the collaboration with us for Way of the Hunter 2, and we’re actively working on forging new partnerships to bring you even more equipment and hunting possibilities.

Built With the Community

Everything in this roadmap is part of a larger vision, but it is also flexible. Your feedback, discussions, and ideas are essential in helping us decide what comes next and how it should be implemented.

This roadmap reflects our plans for the Early Access period, giving you a clear look at what to expect in the near future. We are fully committed to making Way of the Hunter 2 the best experience it can be, and we’re grateful to have you on this journey with us.

Thank you all for an incredible first week and for all the feedback you’ve shared so far - it truly means a lot to us.

Good hunting!
