Patch 0.3.1: Flesh Damage Rebalance & Bugfixes

Patch for version 0.3.1 (202131) is out now, with a reworked flesh damage system, plus a wide range of fixes across gear, animals, and stability.

We've pushed a major patch for Way of the Hunter 2, and the biggest change is a reworked flesh damage system based on your feedback. With the optimal caliber, animals now go down more reliably, without destroying excessive amounts of usable meat. This rebalancing is still ongoing, and in the meantime, it may result in overly favourable hunt ratings in some cases. We plan to continue tuning this in the upcoming updates.

We've also fixed incorrect hunting log weights for sold animals, fitness not correctly affecting animal weight, animals with low fitness reaching high trophy ratings, and animals losing rare fur after being displayed as taxidermy. There's also a batch of scope/optics fixes, various crash fixes, and improvements to binocular zoom, HUD, diorama slots, and controller support, plus DualSense layout support and several mission/challenge progression fixes. Animals:

  • Fixed: Receiving XP after performing a roadkill

  • Fixed: Not being able to place Ptarmigan taxidermies

  • Fixed: Hunting log displaying incorrect weight for Sold animals

  • Fixed: Listing a few incorrect dioramas in Kilimaya Reserve

  • Fixed: Female Cape buffalo having “width of boss” scored

  • Fixed: Fitness not having the correct effect on animal weight

  • Tweaked: Flesh now receives additional damage to reflect wounds that would be caused by the projectile’s impact. This may cause overly favorable hunt ratings until we finish balancing in the near future

  • Tweaked: Rebalanced the lethality of flesh damage and meat loss. Animals should now die more easily from certain flesh hits without destroying excessive amounts of sellable meat

Gear:

  • Fixed: ZEISS Conquest HDX 15x56 not unlocking its Encyclopedia entry

  • Fixed: Sky Ferran Wonder’s reloading sound effect getting muted when aiming after shooting an arrow

  • Fixed: Player getting stuck in position after removing the equipped weapon from Inventory while using the shooting stick

  • Fixed: Thermal effect getting temporarily disabled on Terra Prometheus when activating Photo mode while aiming

  • Fixed: Fast travelling or losing consciousness while looking through binoculars causing the black overlay to stay on the screen

  • Fixed: Not being able to switch gear in hands after dismounting from the shooting stick in some situations

  • Fixed: Being able to use the shooting stick indoors

  • Fixed: Being able to use firearms while in the Hunting map and Claim screen

  • Fixed: 24/12h time format setting not working correctly in every instance

  • Fixed: Not displaying the XP icon under rewards in the mission screen

  • Fixed: Unlock icons for Zeiss gear missing under character progression and in the level up notifications

  • Fixed: Opening the Hunting map while building enhancements locking you on a black screen

  • Fixed: Firearm and caliber not shown in the Claim screen and Hunting log
